Male cockatiels are more vocal than female; they communicate loudly and are more capable of whistling tunes. Cockatiels require relatively low maintenance but regular cleaning, feeding, and interaction. Human attention and interaction keep them active and energetic.
Cockatiels primarily consume seeds, fruits, and vegetables. They are healthy birds however they can be prone to feather plucking and respiratory infections. Moreover, they can be more susceptible to baldness and light sensitivity.
They need spacious place and environment to flourish. A small place can lead towards obesity. Physical activities keep them healthy and happy, and they can normally live between 15 to 25 years. They from pairs during breeding season; female lays 4 to 6 eggs, and both parents incubate for 18 to 21 days. Chicks take 5 to 6 weeks to fledge the nest.
